In April 2007 the Code for Sustainable Homes replaced Ecohomes for the Assessment of new housing in England. The Code measures the sustainability of a new home against six categories of sustainable design, rating the whole home as a package.
The star rating of 1 - 6 considers the following design criteria:
Th Code for Sustainable Homes becomes a mandatory requirement on 1 May 2008 and represents a step forward for developers to be able to demonstrate their sustainability in clear terms.
